With funding for capital management and a project manager funded by ICS to ensure there is no cost to the band, we hired Peter Kirby to oversee the Hot Lakes construction. Due to his experience and knowledge, he was also able to help us in other areas of development.

As well, with funding from FNHA, the band received a grant for major repair on the flooring and walls after porcupine damage. Three houses have been completed, with two more nearly complete, along with new outhouses, with additional funding to build a couple of tent frames.

We have done lots of clearing, and kept the gate locked to keep non-aboriginal out from the area. As a result, the protected area has allowed community members to host BBQs and picnics at Hot Lakes in peace.

As a place for our members to get away, we are working with ISC and CHRT-41 to develop Hot into a facility for healing workshops, cultural heritage workshops, training, winter trapping, a space to hold general assemblies for Kaska Nation and a place to host the first Hard Games.
